We are making strong progress on the full-scale rehabilitation of the historic Hotel Keturah (c. 1910). The McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah (MACK) is proud to announce two significant milestones for the ongoing MACK Rehabilitation Project, a full-scale rehabilitation of the historic Hotel Keturah (c. 1910).

HIGHLIGHT #1: Hooray for Historic Tax Credits!

MACK has achieved a historic milestone by securing both Federal and State Historic Tax Credit investors—a first for McCormick County! This accomplishment allows us to monetize valuable Qualified Rehabilitation Expenses (QREs) as outlined in the National Park Service (NPS) approved MACK Rehabilitation Project.

This strategic approach allows us to:

Preserve our historic landmark while ensuring its long-term sustainability.
Attract investment without overextending our organization.
Maximize funding through Federal and State Historic Tax Credit programs.
Reinvest in our mission to advance the arts in our communities.

HIGHLIGHT #2: All current scope is scheduled to complete this spring!

With the commitment of our team and the steadfast support of our community, we are on track to complete our current extended contract this Spring 2025—bringing us closer to a fully modernized and ADA-accessible space while honoring the building’s rich history.

While we have provide sustainable investment in our historic sight, we hope to continue to advance our next (and final remaining) goals:

What’s Next?

  • Commercial Kitchen Installation
  • Completion of the Basement for Future Use
  • Front Porch Restoration & Accessible Entrance
  • Elevator & Egress Stair Addition
  • Third-Floor Youth Center & Studio

This project is a testament to the power of community-driven preservation. Thank you to all who have contributed to date —we couldn’t do this without you!

We will have an opportunity for our extended community to help towards the final needs of this multi-phase project later this year. Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward.
