The mission of Community Threads is to promote fiber arts as an extension of the McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah (MACK). We are a creative needle arts fellowship, offering an outlet for all to come and learn new skills, fine tune existing ones, share ideas, build strong friendships and serve our community through our craft.

Community Threads & Ladies Day Out of McCormick
MACK’s Community Threads and the local chapter of the Ladies Day Out of McCormick group are working together. The united team project will help provide blankets for traumatized children. Since 2008, Ladies Day Out of McCormick have provided over 1000 blankets to support the Project Linus initiative. Many times these blankets are the projects that are being worked on during Community Threads.
In a crossover of membership and to provide space and project time, Community Threads and the Ladies Day Out of McCormick have created a give back culture here at the MACK. Their current project focus is to contribute blankets for the youth attending a camp for children of Wounded Warriors. This camp has the capacity for 180 children.
Bells & Whistles: Community Quilt
Visitors of Bells & Whistles are encouraged to join the Community Threads group to make a block for the Community Quilt. This quilt is designed to represent all of the members that participate and will feature contrasting colors which allows the bright images to stand out as each community square is stitched together. Sign your square and tell us where you are from. Thanks for being a part of our project. This quilt will remain display at the MACK.
Bells & Whistles: Hands on Heart Pillow Project
Children are welcome to join Community Threads during Bells & Whistles 29835 to help stuff the Hands on Heart Pillows. This allows our children to have the important exposure to community service through the arts. Each pillow has an attached gift card for the child to be able to add their name with pride. Each pillow will have the names of every person that helped to create it. The group wants all to experience the joy of creating and giving back to their community.
