YOUTH PROGRAMS
After School Art 
The MACK is committed to our local students by providing an after school enrichment program for our educational partner, the McCormick School District.  We meet weekly throughout the year and create advance artwork that is often shared and celebrated within our community.  This group serves students from all three school age groups.
Arts Alive! / “Talk to Me!”
The MACK offers a monthly program to support our educational partners, McCormick County’s First Steps and Head Start. We are actively work toward helping to close the 30,000,000 word gap in early literacy. Our program is often inspired by the South Carolina’s State Library’s Family Literacy Activity planning tools and provides projects designed to prepare our youngest students for kindergarten readiness. Instructors work with students and staff to create art projects and demonstrate the benefits of using the arts while education children.
NEW! Fiber Arts Program Developing in 2016
This program will educate our youth on the connection between agriculture and the arts.  Our students will be able to meet local Angora goats and learn about the animal care needs, shearing and fiber preparation and explore all of the uses of mohair.
Historic Downtown McCormick Tour / Local Field Trips
As a proud heritage site of McCormick County, and an anchor in Historic Downtown McCormick, the McCormick Arts Council regularly promotes the opportunities to visit, view and celebrate our local assets. We have developed a Local Field Trips presentation and encourage our school planners to share our local heritage and historic assets to build community pride, offer unique educational day trips and minimize the expenses related to important ‘out of classroom’ learning experiences.  These “tour ready sites include Historic Downtown McCormick, Historic Willington, The Georgia C. Scott Museum, The Strom Thurmond Visitor Center and Dam, and the various trail and historic sites within our unique state parks and community.
Music Instruction 
Music is important to offer to students, of all ages. Student involvement in school music has a positive impact on other areas of their lives.Musical involvement improves a student’s self-discipline, dexterity, coordination, self-esteem, thinking skills, listening skills, creative abilities and personal expression. The McCormick Arts Council offers piano lesson directly on site and is able to assist with registration for violin and guitar through private lessons.
Summer Arts Camp
The McCormick Arts Council offers a summer enrichment program to our local students, ages 5 – 15 years old.  These classes are provided at affordable weekly rates and focuses on developing creative expression, introduces STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts and celebrates world cultures throughout the program.  This summer program is designed to provide unique insight into the world through art and culture.
Visual Arts 2016
Visual arts programming – painting, pastels and pottery are developing toward s offering instructor throughout the year.  Homeschool and field trip groups are encouraged to register for specialized programming and opportunities for group instruction.
Youth Art Month 2016
Youth Art Month is nationally recognized, and a dedicated program the MACK offers to the students of McCormick County.  The MACK works in coordination with District teachers and provided art projects, instruction time, supplies and sponsors the culminating exhibition to include award packages. This year’s theme is “Celebrating  McCormick County’s Centennial”

ADULT PROGRAMS

 
Annual Juried Art 
This program is offered annually at the MACK. Regional artists compete for various awards and there are great exposure opportunities for the represented artists. The participants range from first-time competitors to veteran artists. Each year there is a wide representation of various mediums, compositions and techniques. The Annual Juried Art Exhibition is held in February, the submissions are accepted in January.
Annual Juried Photography 
Each year regional artists are encouraged to participate in a Juried Photography opportunity. The McCormick Arts Council offers another juried opportunity specifically to photographers to compete for awards and also have exhibition opportunities. The Annual Juried Photography Exhibition is held in July, the submissions are accepted in June.
Community Threads
​Community Threads is an o​pen community group for any​ participants interested in any stitching styled artwork. Projects focus on quilting, smocking, crocheting, knitting, standard sewing and much more. This program has produces hundreds of ‘giving back’ projects that have gone towards a variety of social support needs from breast cancer and Veteran families to survivors of loss. This program focuses on fellowship and friendships. “Come stitch with us” is the groups welcoming statement.
Dinner with the Masters 
This program is designed to entertain, educate and engage our community art enthusiasts by dining with the “Master” themselves. This program unites culture, cuisine, lecture and performance.  Featured Masters have included DaVinci, Van Gogh, O’Keeffe, Monet and many others.
NEW! Mohair Fiber Arts Program
Adults are encouraged to enjoy learning about the art of Mohair creatures – from from goat to garment. This program will educate participant about the connection between agriculture and the arts.  Participants will be educated in all scopes of Angora goats.  An introduction will include animal care needs, shearing and fiber preparation and explore all of the uses of mohair including needle and wet felting.
Read & Feed
The Read & Feed program features a monthly piece of literature for participants to discuss, creating an environment for education and appreciation. The program is offered in the evening and includes a dinner; the menu is associated with the month’s reading. This signature program focuses on literature appreciation and discussion supporting local, regional and national authors. The McCormick Arts Council partners with the McCormick County Library and the Friends of the Library, which often sponsors the books for interested participants, to bring this program to the community.

The MACK offers a variety of year round classes and workshops.  With 12 MACK Resident Artists, our visual arts programming in accessible and affordable while serving participants from beginners to advanced.
