June at the MACK 2017

The Barry Russell & Sandy Longshore Exhibition
Featuring the live music of Matt Miller.
Friday, June 2, 2017 / 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Barry Russell was born in Brooklyn, NY. Following four years in the Navy, his career included AT&T, Bell Atlantic, NYNEX and Verizon. In the 1980s he built a single seat airplane and learned to fly it. His interest in art began when his wife bought him a scrollsaw, with which he built music boxes, clocks, etc. He and his wife, Barbara, retired to Virginia where Barbara needed some stained glass work done; consequently, he learned to work with glass. Moving to Savannah Lakes Village in 2007, he enrolled in a beginning art class at Piedmont Tech where he met instructor Clint Scott. Clint introduced Barry to pencil sketching and paper sculpture – and he “was hooked!”

Sandra Longshore is a native Ohioan and moved to SLV with her husband, Don, in 2003. She soon discovered The MACK and, with encouragement from a friend, they signed up for their first class with Clint Scott. Having an interest in drawing and nature since childhood, she feels fortunate to be able to pursue her love of art with this gifted instructor. Painting mostly in acrylic, she continues to search for interesting subject matter in the great outdoors. This is the second show she has participated in. She has shown in other exhibitions and a juried show.
