The members of the Mascaro Art Group began working under the instruction and mentoring of David Mascaro in 2009.  David had studied at the Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts, and the National Academy of Art, all in New York City.  He was a renowned medical illustrator and a highly regarded long-time member of the Medical College of Georgia faculty.  He died of cancer in March 2015.
As David’s last group of students, the members of the Mascaro Art Group resolved to honor his memory by incorporating his name into their group name, and they continue now to pursue their art in the studio they shared with David, on Washington Road.  They work in oil, acrylics, watercolor, and pastel.  Most of their work is representational, with occasional forays into abstract and experimental art.

Lunch & Learn – “I’ve been Framed!”
Wednesday, May 24, 2017
11:00 Lecture begins / Luncheon to follow / $25
“I’ve been Framed!” is a topic often left for last, as in: to frame or not, to match frames for a show or not, to mat or not (and in what color), using used frames from antique shops, and navigating the expense of the custom frame. Many suggestions about how to advise collectors on frames, where to hang art, matching frames to furniture….it’s a complicated subject, but one you can consider as the art work is created. Not included: how to make a frame. No saws or hammers.
Dr. Lenti has a wealth of speaking experience on a national level in pedagogy. She is a successful self-taught artist, having studied with noted artists. She has lectured on art at the Arts Center of Greenwood, has been featured regionally in one woman shows, and recently won the Artist Fellowship and Residency at the Reserve at Lake Keowee, showing her work, teaching a weeklong workshop in pastels, and fulfilling a commission for the gallery.
Summer Arts Camps will be ready for registration in May!  We will offer 6 weeks of fun summer arts camps for students ages 5 – 15 year of age.
